Description
WELCOME TO OUR COMPANY
The Christian Catholic Church sees its mission in the living transmission of the message of salvation under the respective conditions of the time. In doing so, it draws on the experiences and treasures of the entire Christian tradition. It maintains close relations with the Orthodox Churches and the Anglican Church.
The admission of women to the ordained ministries has been affirmed by the Christian Catholic Church after extensive discussion. Thus, both female deacons and female priests work together with their male colleagues in pastoral care.
There is no obligatory connection between ordination and celibacy.
The modern Marian dogmas (Immaculate Conception, Assumption of Mary into Heaven) are rejected in their narrowness.
Papal infallibility and the Pope's unrestricted office of judge are not accepted.
The Christian Catholic Church of Basel-Stadt is a national church officially recognized by the canton. It is particularly committed to the well-being of all people in the city of Basel and throughout Switzerland.
The Christian Catholic Church is free to practise the broad spectrum of Christian tradition. Paternalism by the Vatican Curia is excluded.
There are special offers in parish life for children, young people, families, women and senior citizens. A central concern of pastoral care is to help individuals to develop a lively spirituality that can also prove itself in everyday life.
Christians who come from another Christian church can join the Christian Catholic Church after a discussion with the pastors. Those who have not yet been baptized become members of the Christian Catholic Church through baptism.
Organization and administration:
In the Christian Catholic Church of Switzerland, the Synod and the Synodal Council are the supreme bodies. The bishop has an advisory vote there. He is responsible for matters of faith and pastoral care. The bishop also liaises with the so-called "Union of Utrecht", an association of churches that do not subordinate themselves to Roman absolutism.
In Basel-Stadt, the Christian Catholic Church is a public corporation. The parish assembly makes the substantive decisions. The executive body is the church council.
In the canton of Basel-Landschaft, there is the regional church council, parish councils in the individual parishes and the parish assembly.
The Christian Catholic Church in Basel-Stadt is financed by church taxes, in the canton of Basel-Landschaft by church taxes and cantonal subsidies. The parishes manage their own finances and publish their accounts annually, which are audited by a finance commission.
A central office of the Christian Catholic Church in Switzerland is located in 3003 Bern,
Willadingstrasse 39. The office of Bishop is held by Dr. Harald Rein.
