Schlebach AG is a traditional drum manufacturing company that has been based in the upper Kleinbasel district since it was founded in 1977. It builds Basel drums and rope timpani for all regions. Made of aluminum, brass or wood, with diameters from 36 cm to 43 cm. The customer is guaranteed an outstanding sound, the highest quality, the shortest delivery times, absolute reliability and punctuality, whether for a one-off production or a large series.
A true Basel craftsmanship, of course. Because we only offer drums that we build ourselves in our workshop. These are drums made of metal or wood with a diameter of 36 cm to 43 cm, whereby 41 cm with 12 strings is standard.
- Metal drums, silver or gold
- Beech drums, stained
- Drums made from various woods, natural finish
- Wood drums, painted
- Family coat of arms
- Open category
- Carbon drums
- Large drums
Metal drums, silver or gold (yellow)
Chrome-plated or gold-plated aluminum is used for metal drums. But we also have polished brass (yellow) or chrome-plated brass in our range. However, since aluminum drums are significantly lighter than brass drums with the same stability, the future belongs to them.
Beech drums, stained
The fame of wooden drums is completely imperishable. By staining the surface, either the natural structure of the wood can be emphasized or the wood can be dyed in all imaginable shades. Whether classic or unusual, your options are unlimited.
Drums made from various woods, natural finish
In order to offer you further design options, we also like to work with other woods in addition to beech, which we usually leave in their natural color. Whether exclusive bird's eye maple, ultra-light poplar, walnut or cherry wood, ash and oak: Schlebach has them all in its range.
Painted wooden drums
Wooden drums painted by our artists give your instrument a very personal touch, often adorned with your own (club) logo or clique signet. We are also happy to produce detailed reproductions of former classics. However, they can also be perceived acoustically: by the naturally soft sound.
Family coat of arms
Whether for an anniversary, a milestone birthday, a confirmation or simply for the joy of the instrument: we are also happy to paint your drum with your family coat of arms according to heraldic specifications. We are of course particularly proud of No. 120, which features the personal coat of arms of Benedict XVI. This motif was painted with real gold and silver paint.
Large drums
We manufacture our large drums in the same way as our wooden drums. This means:
same quality, same precision, same materials. This means that you can also choose from different woods and colors for the big brother of the Basel drum to suit your individual taste. The standard diameter is 26 inches.
Tambourmajor sticks - handmade in our workshop
The tambourmajor leads his formation with the TM stick. In addition to indicating the beat, he can use it to turn his corps in all directions and set a variety of signals. The length of the baton to be selected is of course primarily determined by the height of the drum major. However, the size of the formation to be led also influences the choice of stick length, as the signals must be visible right up to the back row. We think, however, that the stick should match your uniform and instruments in terms of design and color. But club or cantonal colors etc. can also be incorporated into the design. Simply download the PDF, choose from our wide range of components and order.
Our trademark: the service.
You can set your expectations of us high. We repair and set drums from all manufacturers. We believe this is part of customer service. That's why we don't limit our service to Basel and certainly not just to the period around carnival, but are also always on hand to provide first aid for instruments. There's no need to tell true drumming enthusiasts that prevention is better than cure - at the very most, we should remind them that the next festival or "Ständeli" is as sure to come as the next carnival!
Very common: second-hand and as-new exhibition models
Of course, we can't build new drums from old boilers either, but it often only takes a little to get a "dusty" instrument back into shape. We are therefore happy to buy your used drum if we can repair it. Freshly re-stretched, it will then end up here: on our website. So it's worth checking back often! Or just drop by the store in search of a bargain; many old drums don't get old here.
For exhibition purposes in our store, at drum festivals, at trade fairs or simply as a prototype, we are always building top instruments. We offer these at reduced prices at this point.
