Gasthof zum Bahnhof Brenzikofen
In 1896, the farmer and cattle dealer Friedrich Tschanz sold his former farm in Brenzikofen and acquired a new property in the village as well as building and agricultural land around the planned railroad line. Here he put his plans for an inn with a farm into practice, and when the then Emmental-Burgdorf-Thun Railway opened its newly constructed line in 1899, the actual inauguration of the inn and the associated farm also took place. 1961 saw the first generational change: landlords Hans and Margrit Tschanz-Engel took over the business.
The need to expand the inn soon arose due to its age and for food hygiene reasons. In 1970, the farming business was therefore discontinued, the cattle sold and the land leased. The kitchen, dining room and hall were rebuilt and an additional room was created in the former barn. The former cowshed was converted into a horse shelter.In recent years, a few more conversions have been added: The "Kalberhüttli", where cattle dealer Friedrich Tschanz had once stabled commercial animals, is now the studio-gallery "Zum alten Rossstall" and the hayloft was converted into an apartment. The next generational change took place in 2000: Margreth Tschanz took over her parents' inn. However, her parents continued to help with the business. Hans Tschanz passed away a few years ago, but his mother, Mrs. Margrit Tschanz, is still actively involved.The character of a small village pub has remained to this day. Regulars at the Bähnhöfli include old and young, locals, clubs, hikers, cyclists, horse riders and dog walkers. The menu includes many reasonably priced dishes from home-style cooking. In the summer months, guests can even enjoy vegetables and salads from the restaurant's own garden. In addition, a 40-seater terrace with evening sun invites you to linger in the warmer months.
