Centre d'Information et de Réadaptation de l' Association pour le Bien des Aveugles et malvoyants – Contacts & Location
Description
Information and Rehabilitation Center of the Association for the Benefit of the Blind
The Centre d'Information et de Réadaptation (CIR) offers services to anyone with a visual impairment, regardless of age, residing or attending school, training or work in Geneva. CIR aims to promote the social, family, educational, pre-professional and professional integration of visually impaired people.
The CIR's activity contributes to reducing disability situations by taking better account of visual impairments and their consequences. It is part of Geneva's social and health network.
The CIR relies on the skills of occupational therapists specialized in the field of visual deficiency and those of social assistants who offer individualized, multidisciplinary follow-up. They take into account the life context of the person and his or her entourage, and consider the person's various activities throughout his or her life.
There are two levels of intervention agreed with the person, delivered mainly at home and in other activity venues as well as on CIR premises:
- Individual and group services of social rehabilitation and in ergotherapy;
- Information and awareness-raising services for close and professional contacts.
The CIR values aim to:
- Respect the individual's rhythm and needs;
- Maintain as much autonomy as possible;
- Promote home care.
The CIR is also one of the regional distribution centers for auxiliary aids run by the Union centrale suisse pour le bien des aveugles (UCBA). An occupational therapist will be on hand to offer advice on these aids.
The aids service is open by appointment only. Please contact us by phone: +41 22 349 10 64.
