In 1980 Giacinto Bertazzoli bought the Grotto Angela in the village of Iragna, chosen for its quiet location at the foot of the mountain far from traffic and noise and surrounded by a beautiful chestnut grove the classic structure of the grotto Ticinese.
But it was not until February 1982 that he realized his dream of wanting to run a small public establishment of his own with his wife Vincenza after many experiences in hotels and restaurants.
From the very beginning he felt at ease, the cuisine made up of simple and always well-maintained dishes was appreciated by all and in a few years Giacinto`s name spread throughout Ticino and even beyond Gotthard.
It is with the 30 years of management in 2012 Vincenza with her children Roberto and Cristina who decide to honor his great efforts and love for his work to change the name of the exercise that now all loyal customers call "Grott dal Giaci".
It is now called Osteria Da Giacinto.
The kitchen combines seasonal ingredients to make simple but tasty dishes.
A plate of homemade charcuterie with some calf's liver pate, cannelloni and crespelle strictly homemade, are just the prelude to the main course.

First slaughter meats at the fire of the grill : beef, lamb, veal and more, enriched by the fragrances chosen by Chef Roberto.
Autumn/winter showcases game, accompanied by porcini mushrooms and local polenta. Spring is characterized by the scents of thyme and rosemary, which go well with roast kid.
In addition, summer also features lighter dishes such as carpaccio, beef tartare or roast-beef, carpion trout and fresh lobster salads.
To finish a really full-bodied meal : a selection of cheeses from the Ticino Alps, or a dessert.
