Brief history from 1924 to the present
In the early part of the last century, Piazza Grande was the nerve center of the Locarno area.
It was on the very edge of this square that Oreste Borghi opened the real estate agency of the same name in 1924.
Oreste Borghi was a pioneer of the modern concept of "Property by floors" or "Condominium" conforming to the new needs expressed by tourists. It was he who built the first Condominium in Minusio in the early 1960s and created the regulations to manage the communal living of all condominiums who owned one or more apartments in it.
The first condominium in Minusio was built in the early 1960s.
As the years went by, the city of Locarno became a major tourist center, so more and larger construction began. Condominiums and construction were increasing, the market was booming, and apartments were being sold on "paper." Those were the real estate boom years.
When founder Oreste Borghi died in 1972, management of the firm was taken over by his son Silvio. But the real estate crisis was near, the industry stagnated, and Borghi real estate was also affected. After Silvio Borghi's passing in 1983, the agency changed several owners and the name, which became Assofide SA, until it was bought by Giancarlo Cotti in 1993. At that time, Assofide SA consisted of Giancarlo Cotti, as director, Erica Borghi, active in sales, and three other staff members.
The agency's name was changed to Assofide SA.
Under the new leadership, Assofide SA was relaunched, restructured and reorganized in the areas:
Real Estate Brokerage
Administration Real Estate
Condominiums
