Haben Sie’s streng?
Von dem Lateinischen stringere (zusammendrücken) kommt das Wort Stress. Es bezeichnet etwas Strenges und Anstrengendes. Aus dem Altfranzösischen “estrece” (Enge), taucht das Wort Stress ab dem XV Jahrhundert in der englischen Sprache auf und bedeutet Hilflosigkeit (distress). Später übernahmen Bauingenieure das Wort, um den Druck, dem gewisse Metallstücke ausgesetzt wurden, zu beschreiben. 1956 beschreibt Hans Selye “ein allgemeines Anpassungssyndrom” als Folge von Stress, das in drei Phasen aufgebaut ist: Alarmreaktion, Widerstands- und Erschöpfungsphase.
